IMAGES OF PERU: THE SCULPTURE OF MARGARITA CHECA
My work comes to be for me a conductive thread of life, a self-portrait, that which touches me from outside and has resonance within me. This is always my first impulse.
If the beginning of marquetry in my work arose on account of a Chancay cuchimilco [an indigenous Andean figurine], its resemblance in intention with other cultures is what nears man in the unconscious collective and/or universality in art.
The need to dominate the distinct disciplines of art and especially the human figure continues to be my point of departure, carried more made and interpretation, not of what the body is, but what a body says. From there perhaps
